Montblanc 1858 Chronograph strap change
I recently received my Montblanc dark blue alligator strap. I have not a single complaint about my original combo, but still wanted to try the factory look.
About to be united after a brief separation
The AP Tool Kit instills confidence. The tools are as good as it gets.
Always wrap for safety ;-)
The lug stickers are for a "just in case" scenario, if you are careful with your removal tool, the springbar should not open across the metal. You can also pull up with the strap, I find it easy to drop it down when removing.

The watch is definitely more "classy" on this strap, and dressed down on the brown nubuck. I'll likely grab a 3rd at some point, a more medium blue color with white stitching.
A quick comment on this watch itself, which I have now owned for 40 days. I bought my first "high end" piece in 2000. Since then, I have owned some incredible timepieces. I can say without hesitation, none have been better than this one.

Agreed on the feelings about this Chronograph.
There are not many modern watches which gave me such a strong feeling. Magic. As for the strap, I would love to find a canvas one, navy blue, white stitching or not. Best, Nicolas

I\'m lucky that my wrist cannot accommodate the size otherwise there would be trouble at home with the boss... :P On another note, that AP kit is amazing! Where is this from if it\'s okay to ask?

The watch is beautiful. The case is listed at 44mm, and it feels every bit of it. Hefty, indeed. I bought that AP Tool Kit 10 years ago. It was very difficult and expensive to acquire. I recall it was discontinued shortly after I bought mine; I don't know...

I think it is evident how much I love it.
My favorite piece is my 15202. I place this MB right next to it as a co-favorite. Thanks again for all of your assistance, Robin! You do both PuristSPro and MB very proud!
Definitely much better on the blue strap IMO
That brown Panerai strap doesn't match the MB well if you ask me. I have to go to my local MB Boutique to check out this beautiful 1858 Chronograph. I still haven't seen one in the flesh yet! - AT
I think you might change your mind in person.
The Panerai strap is awesome on the blue dial. You'll see, that new blue dial Radiomir that was recently announced, people will use the same strap.
I can't wait to find THE strap for that watch...
In the same time, I wonder if it is a good idea, as this is the watch which got most wrist time since 9th of March....

My idea: Canvas navy blue. But a high quality canvas strap, leather on the inside. Not necessarily stitching,
Or, if with stitching, then an ecru one. Now we have to find the strapmaker... And if the price is not too high, then we can try to get a second one, ecru, with blue stitching. I also think that a nice calf may work very nicely, too. The top would be Cord...

Like the casual and sporty look of it. Of course the original blue alligator is nice too, but I am more drawn to the first pics with the brown Nubuk. Stefan

I did change to the OEM dark blue gator, certainly very nice. I think the brown Nubuck presents a total experience with more character though, and I'll change back at some point.
