Goju-no-to (五重塔) refers to Japanese five-storied pagodas, iconic wooden towers symbolizing the five Buddhist elements—earth, water, fire, wind, and void—representing the universe. These structures, often featuring vermillion exteriors and complex, earthquake-resistant timber techniques, house sacred relics and are commonly found at ancient temples and shrines, with the oldest at Horyuji Temple.
