Back from a long visit to the spa in Switzerland
After what seemed like an interminable time my Master Perpetual has finally returned from service by JLC. I had sent it in for a routine service and also a dial replacement. The old dial had some strange corrosion around some of the indicators and the moon phase. It was the sort of thing that you had to look close to see, but once seen it was a glaring flaw.
It is back now in flawless condition, although I must confess that I really wasn't thinking when I sent it in. I should have either sent it in months earlier or I should have waited until after February. I unfortunately will now have to wait three years to see it change over during a leap year!

I think you might be right about the displaced oil. Looking closely at the photos that seems like a very plausible explanation. It was in odd locations though. It wasn't just around the edges of the sundials but on the moon phase aperture as well.
