Jaeger-LeCoultre

Yes, your watchmaker is correct

The 'day date" Jaeger leCoultre watches from the early 1970's have indeed outsourced, lower quality AS movements.
Commonly found in the 'Club' series of watches and in some of their late Master Mariner   (though most master mariner with date only from earlier series had generally a genuine Jaeger LeCoultre 881 movement).

So, your watchmaker is right.

This watch was made when swiss horology as whole was in serious trouble, and even some 'quality' watch houses had to compromise and went for the low-end market segment with cheap mass produced / outsourced movements such as the A. Shild.
