2008 saw the new Master Ultra Thin " landing " on our wrists. 38 mm, so 4 mm than our beloved MUT, but a superb new case. Here, the MUT 38 mm " 1833 ": In 2009, came the Grande MUT, which I wouldn't call Ultra Thin, by the way. It received a new 40 mm thi...
and ultra-thin watches in general. But I don't agree with you completely: there are quite many around like the examples I posted yesterday or some others earlier... Just to give a few examples... Anyhow, I must admit that the ones made by JLC are among th...
I have the feeling that the Jubilé 39 will make some shadow to its bigger brother, even if they are not in the same price range, which may be important at the moment of the final decision... Best, Kari and thanks for your input. Nicolas.
But without seeing any of the two in real - my preference goes to the UT Jubilé. Not I fanatic UT fan, but I like that the trend is going back to thinner/smaller watches that 44-47mm! Best, my friend Blomman
I know any design cannot please everyone. I feel the presence of the 'Automatique' text actually accentuates the white space at 6' o clock. I don't know if anyone else agree with me. Without 'Automatique' would be better for me...
There have been many thin mouvements or calibers, Jean Lassale was one, Piaget P9 is another, however JLC has always been there, it was actually Jacques- David Lecoultre who took on the challenge put to him by Edmond Jaeger to produce thin or Ultra thin c...
The MUTs 34, 38 and the latest one, the " Jubilé " are in this UT family. As for the full review of the new Geophysique, I fear you will have to wait and see if JLC decides, one day, to release it! ;) Thanks for your input, my friend. Nicolas
there is not much difference. I agree though that a very flat watch over 40mm looks weird on the wrist. Also, I am not sure about when the Ultra thin finishes and the just thin start, what are the criteria? As for the Geophysique I am sure that JLC will m...
The latest Jubilé, for example, is, as well as the MUT 34, and 38. The Reverso 1931 is, also belonging to this category. Of course, there are 3 extra mm, but you have the case and the carriage, and it is difficult to do thinner without risking to touch to...
may be called Ultra Thin v just Thin? Is Ultra Thin below 8mm or below 7mm or even more below? and above say 7mm it is not considered UT but just Thin? Just a question? Ah! No worries, the Gods of La Vallee de Joux told me that all is good!:) Cheers. Fran...
...while smaller is preferred by many others. I do have one question though. Why is it that on most JLC watches I see the French "Automatique" is used but on the latest Master Calendar the Manufacture prefers instead to go with the English "Automatic"? I ...
...to throw the new 39mm Master Control and 40mm Ultra-Thin Tribute into the mix. While we may see these as a separate genre, the buyer will see them as within the consideration set, generating more confusion. As we know, with confusion comes inaction--no...
Think about how many Memovoxes JLC released in the Fifties, and even more in the Sixties? There were so many that I am unable to make a properexhaustive review of all of them! Same for the Vintage Reversos, and even worse, the Chronos! It has most always ...
Hi Nicolas, This is a very nice watch... but not my type of ultra thin. I like this little old look feeling about this watch even if I prefer a modern touch (that I find in the Jubilee) but I remember when I tried a Patrimony Contemporaine for the 1st tim...
Now, there are guys who prefer automatic movements, and bigger watches... It is impossible to get a consensual watch, so why not? Like you, I much prefer the latest MUT 39 Jubilé. Best, and thanks for your input. Nicolas
I have a MGUT 40mm and I love it for its minimalist elegance but it would be even better with a diameter of 38. So I feel that 41 mm for the new MGUT are just too many. For dress watches I feel that the ideal is 37-38. 40 mm is perfect for complications.....
better above 6 o'clock for the spatial design of the dial. I wonder if JLC has considered making this 41 MUT "Anti-Magnetic" just as the original 37mm Master Control was. That would be a nice touch, since it isn't using a silicon balance. Overall, I think...
first is the solid caseback. it's hard to connect with a watch if you can't see it. second is the automatique. It takes away your power to give it life and now it just does everything itself! but it looks great still.
When there is something interesting to see... An unusual Calibre, like the Memo manual Cal 914, or well finished. The movement in the Grande MUT is not in these 2 cases. As for Automatique, I agree that it would have been better without, or stuck under th...
