Wow. A beautiful review of a downplayed but still enchanted space!
Thank you Fastwong for this lovely review! What? They charge for the coffee and the cakes? I hope the cakes were reasonable. I would've came in and devoured their entire supply of cakes if they were complimentary - probably only half their supply if they charged for the cakes.
Considering the opportunity rent costs on Madison Ave and the construction set up costs, this was definitely an expensive endeavor for JLC. And also considering that there's not heavy sales oriented presence, that's a really cool thing that JLC is doing here, giving back to the local NYC watch community.
I've been to the WoS store (Watches of Switzerland) on 57th street. WoS may have a bar in the lobby, but no vibe at all. As you said - old school retail in a modern digs.
Thank you for the beautiful photos. I wasn't able to attend, as I was sunning in a gilded island. But wow. What a nice event. Your photos definitely show a nice art-deco style decoration and the space looks great. Lots of vertical lines and a pleasing luxurious color palette.
Thanks for sharing Fastwong! Airport lounge it is not! Goodness. I've been in too many airport lounges. Even the nicest ones in the world (Frankfurt's special stand-alone building lounge is probably the nicest one) are still just a lounge.
