Update: Solid Outcome
Hi All - I just wanted to provide an update on the situation. I received a call from the boutique shortly after my original post and they mentioned they were sorry about the situation and offered to remove the fibres from the dial without needing to replace the plexi. They were also kind enough to offer to credit he cost of the original polish which was very much appreciated. Positive outcome. Unfortunately the trip is going to cost me a little more than expected as I'm not on the hunt for a SS Geophysic 
JLC Service - this could get interesting
A couple of months ago I decided to polish my JLC at the local service centre. The polish was only around $100 but you are required to perform a minor service as part of the process (another $300) as they needed to remove the movement from the case. Sound...
This is ont normal. They should do it for free. After all, they did it when they serviced
Your watch, so it is up to them to fix it, for free. And no need to replace your plexy, either. Best, Nicolas
Unfortunately this IS normal for Richmond, in Singapore and Hong Kong and other points East.
I would venture to say there are hundreds of posts on this issue in the IWC Collectors Forum; and it has led to bitter arguments and interventions from Moderators, authorized service techs et al.
They should be resposible for their work period.
I hope that the service center realizes they reflect badly on the brand with such representation Bill
Tats really substandard servicing
to leave fibers inside the watch.. I recently also very poor servicing on 2 of my langes.. Which is yet to be resolved.. Too lazy to repeat the whole thing here at the forum since I have already written a long email to the HQ. But think I probably should ...

The service I got from JLC Singapore was the worst I have got from any Brand Boutique anywhere. But like we Finns use to say: "It's easy to vote by walking (away)". Best, Kari
