This is an interesting and provocative question, as I like it, PET! :)
I think that all the Reverso Afficionado will answer YES, and they're partially right.
They're right because it may take one hour for me to post pics of some of the nicest JLC ever made from 1931 till now.
At a certain moment, more precisely at the beginning of the 90ies, we may assert that the most beautiful JLC were the Reversos, with an incredible serries of Limited Edtion in Rose Gold.
The round line ( Master Control series ) weren't able to compete,in front of such beauties like the 60eme, the Minute Repeater, the Perpetual Calendar, the Geographique, the Chrono, and the Tourbillon.
Then, for some 4 or 5 years now, things are more balanced, between the Reversos and the Round watches.
The Hybris Grande Sonnerie, the MMR, the Gyro I, the Perpetual Skeleton, the Polaris, the Amvoxes, The Ultra Thin and so on, are beautiful examples, evidences that Life could be as rectangular as it can be round too, at JLC, don't you think?

Do you agree that only when you own a reverso you really have a JaegerLeCoultre? Is it too radical sentence? In the next pic you can see my GD, just beside the stunning Foversta´s Cabaret...

but this is rather radical, in my opinion I do not own a reverso and although I admire the line and it is an icon for JLC.... they do make many fascinating watches that are truly of top quality and innovation....from aMVOX to MMR to duometre..... Cheers

The development of JaegerLeCoultre in the last years is stunning, specially if you consider the complicated watches. They are authentic work of art. Nowaday perhaps we can say that every Jaeger LeCoultre watch contains the essence of Sentier. Best redards...

My first JLC was a Reverso....
When I had decided to buy a JLC, first on my mind was to get a Reverso. The icon of the brand. Since then, JLC has been developing their other lines more, but to me, a Reverso is the heart of the JLC brand.

I would beg to politely disagree but if I could rephrase your idea.
I would then say "only when you own a Reverso your JLC experience would be complete". That's because all other JLC watches are not "less JLC" than the Reverso. But then again you would feel that there is something missing if you own one or more JLC watche...

A very interesting quesiton!
Reverso is an important icon of Jaegar and I presently own the RG Grande Sun/Moon. I owned a Reverso Classique in the past and also Master Moon! I love all of them. To me, all JLCs are really nice, I love to own them all if I could afford!
