And rumors are rumors...
Who knows what JLC will do with the Amvox I ?
This watch was born in 2005, so yes, I think that one day or another, JLC will discontinue it, but nobody knows when.
As for the Cal 918, I agree with you, this is indeed a very reliable movement, and I like to know that it was inpsired by the Cal 916, born in 1969, but inlcuding all the modern refinements, of course.
More Waterproof, The Memovox is ( 100 meters, instead of 50 Meters for the Amvox I ).
More Antimagnetic, I don't think so, as a watch is antimagnetic or isn't, and I don't see the Amvox I nor the MC Memovox like Antimagnetic watches.
The Diameter of the cases is quite the same ( 41,5 mm for the MC Memovox / 42 mm for the Amvox I ).
Which one to prefer?
That's a pretty touhg question, my friend, as it depends on everybody's taste.
Let's say that the Amvox I is purer in the design of the case and in the layout of the dial , more balanced ( no 3rd crown at 10, nor a large window between 7 and 1 for the Alarm setting ), and bigger Compressor Crowns.
But I like a lot the shape of the Indexes on the MC Memovox, and the numbers, both inspired by the ...Polaris.
The MC Memovox was JLC 's first attempt to the Re Birth of the Polaris, while the Amvox I was rather an Hommage to this Cult Watch.
I see them as different watches, and at the end, I'd go on the amvox I, but the MC Memovox has a strong appeal, due to its brutal and lovely look.
Funny that you ask that, because I was considering adding a MC Memo in my collection of Black dialed Memovoxes!
To give you a good answer, I'd say that you have to try both of them at the same time, and your wrist and your heart will tell you what's the one for you.
Hope this help.
