The JLC deployant...
...that doublefolds is shorter so it should be more comfortable.
My JLC MUT was delivered with it and I am very happy with it.
I have also read that some people put the strap at six o'clock at twelve and vice versa, and in that manner changes the position of the deployant on the wrist.
Maybe worth a try before trying the doublefold.
Best,
Rob.

I have the MC GMT with the stainless steel band - I do find it to be very comfortable (absolutely love the watch!). I was a previous owner of an Amvox I with the leather strap and deployment buckle. It indeed was less comfortable for me. --sancerre

take the strap off and invert it, so that it folds "up" the way a bracelet would. This is how JLC used to mount them, but changed in '02/'03. The new way rides on the bone behind the thumb. The only minor downside will be that the logo will be upside-down...
