Jaeger Lecoultre and QP Salon: An interesting rectangular perpetual calendar from 1938.

Yes, Circa 1938... How many Perpetual Calendars were issued, at that time, with an in house ( Cal 410 QP: The Reverso Calibre + a Perpetual Calendar. ) movement, in a wrist watch? Of course, this is not the first perpetual calendar from Lecoultre, since w...

Looking at that movement

...is what makes me wonder why so many modern movements are so large. Though I also have to wonder how days and dates are corrected?

I will have to wait for the curator to come back to ask him...

But I don't complain about the size of the movement, as long as it is coherent with the size of the case. And I quite like big and nicely decorated movements! Best, Nicolas

That's a very nice watch and

it reminds me of another watch (another brand) from the 90ies. Can you guess which one?

IWC? [nt]

Indeed. Novecento Perpetual, a lot of similarity

although the position of the moon phase is at 3 o'clock.

Very interesting, Nicolas. Looks like a modular ...

... concept with the qp-module on the dialside. If so, why was it unique and has not been utilised for series-production? Best Christian

Yes, that was my guess, too. A Reverso movement with a QP module.

Why it has not been used a a series production, I don't know. Maybe one of those pieces JLC used to show their skill. There were several examples like this. One, ten years before, the Grande Complication pocket watch, for example. Best, Christian. Nicolas...

Different, but in the same vein...

Amazing design in an "almond" - shaped movement...

What are the dimensions of the head? -Dean

Why was it "unsigned?" Was it never sold? A prototype (like the Reverso QP)?

 By: watchme : November 17th, 2015-05:35
Was it sold to another brand or to a store as "their" watch? -Dean
