So I got invited by the Boutique and the dress code was "Anything Red"

May 30, 2012,02:06 AM

To go with the theme, I put on something red and something square as well.

This was a day I was so looking forward to for a long time.

I arrived much much earlier to avoid the nightmare traffic jam.

The red floor sticker in the boutique is very nice and befitting the hero of the night.

Greeted by the friendly staff, the bad news was delivered to me.

He informs me the Reverso TT Rouge was not delivered to the boutique yet. He too was led to believe it would be delivered for the event. In fact, when I arrived, they had just opened up the delivery package.

Instead, what did they find inside the delivery box?

It was Red too.

It was the original vintage Rouge.

Am I dissappointed by the bad news? Certainly not smile

In fact I was so early, it wasnt put in the display case yet. I considered myself ultra lucky to be able to see the Rouge so so up close and personal.

Interesting to notice that the backplate in the vintage has a "groove" when the watch is slide out, it sort of "pop-ed up" and feels like it was eager to be flipped over, a characteristic which I found charming. Compared to the modern TT which is flat. The vintage one doesnt lie flat down,

Yup, I was lucky enough to be given 10sec to put it on for a wrist shot comparison.

And it looks pretty darn good, with casual jeans too.

That was all I was allowed to do in 60sec. It had to be placed in position next to its Blue brother and a sister : )

But my my my, those 60sec will be a lifetime of horological memory.

How do I feel?

In short, mesmerized

So now I guess, I am just waiting to see the TT Rouge next, eagerly as always.

A great many thanks to the awesome friendly staff at the boutique for giving me this absolutely fantastic experience. JLC rocks and that's why they remain my favorite brand, not just for their timepieces but the brand experience they deliver.

We'll have a Red Night in Paris, too... So, what about your feelings about the Vintage Red, compared to the Tribute Black? About the volumes, i mean? Best, Nicolas

Am always a classic kind of guy

 By: foowy : May 30th, 2012-20:15
Tho it is considered very small by today's standard, I liked the Rouge's small classic size very much. Thanks to my small wrist, it actually sits very nicely and I would imagine, its a watch you easily forget you are wearing. Much like my 34mm MUT. While ...

Yes, Foowy, that is the amazing thing wwith The Original Rouge.

You totally forget the size... Which is not that small, by the way... To focus on the dial. Best, Nicolas

Here's a side profile picture of the Rouge

clicked the insert button too fast earlier. I think its balanced nicely between the thickness and the dimension in terms of the "wrist feel" as compared to the TT I would imagine if the vintages came as ultra thin and in its classic dimensions, it would f...

You are absolutely right. The profile shot is a great idea.

The TT R looks much thinner, by the way, because of its bigger case. The original has a lot of character, I find. Thanks! Nicolas

Wow. That looks great!

Hello Gary! I can well understand both your dissapointing, and your ...

... excitement at same time. Dissapointment at not finding the new Red, which you are anxious to see in the flesh, but excitement for having this one of a kind opportunity of viewing (and trying yourself) a genuine vintage example, which was used as base ...

You are spot-on for the mixed feelings I had between dissappointment and excitement.

Terry at the boutique had asked me to attend, but I had to be in Singapore on that day. Did they host a dinner at Shook? Think that was the initial plan. Gorgeous pics!

Seeing the vintages that close....I was already all Shook-ed up

 By: foowy : May 30th, 2012-20:31
Dennis Actually I skipped the dinner so I could avoid the traffic jam getting out of town : ) was already full-filled by the vintages. By the way, did you receive a separate JLC event invite for 3rd June? This is a bigger event with an actual polo game I ...

Yep I did

 By: dennis_yong : May 31st, 2012-18:46
But i'll have to skip that one too as I'll be in Bangkok. I'm actually waiting for the Reverso Calendar to hit KL before blowing my 2012 budget on something else. Haha. Cheers, Dennis

thats a great choice too
