Reverso Tribute Blue
Jun 21, 2018,01:09 AM
I had the chance to see this one in metal yesterday. This is a superb Reverso and a must see "in real life" as photos don't make justice to its changing dial.
They are so alike, yet so different:
The sizes are about the same (there is a bit of parallax in my pictures giving the impression the blue is larger: it is not). The blue is significantly thicker but since the Fagliano strap is quite thick at the "lugs" the overall look is well balanced.
The dials are very different (not only talking about colors here ... lol): the lacquered dial of the Rouge is more extreme in term of changing colors whereas the blue dial adds very nice "soleillé" effects. Most importantly, the applied indexes and hands of the blue reflect the light with shiny flashes, something lacking to the Rouge where the indexes are embedded into the lacquer and the hands more rounded. In my opinion it adds to the modernity of the blue (while keeping an Art Deco look), the Rouge being historically closer to the first Reversos.
The blue is a very chic looking watch that can be wear with a suit or jeans ... the Rouge is more "daring" and only the more braves of us will wear it with a suit (I've tried it, with a black strap and was happy about it ... but I am not really a reference in term of discretion as one can tell by my many daring strap combinations).
Now would I get the blue? It's very tempting but I need to stay focussed on another "blue" project for now.
In the long term? It may be a nice addition to the Rouge, but if I had to choose between the two, I think I'll keep the Rouge.
Now if I were in the market for my first Reverso, the Rouge being discontinued and had to find, I'll get this one without hesitation.
