I thought about posting that price tag but it may seem a little painful! The line about "the growth potential provided by the stock market" is probably true if you compare an investment in the Dow at the time to a purchase of this piece at $250. Thanks for the additional info on the WRL club. It seems a bit odd too that a SF retailer would end up selling to a midwest headquartered company.
I googled the retailer Sidney Mobell and found out one of his famous achievements is creating the world's most expensive Monopoly set - a gold and jewel set valued at $2 million.
