Hello All, I have a JLC master perpetual that sticks and arbitrarily stops. It seems to be in in a desperate need for a servicing. It is a 2005 built watch. I am enquiring whether I should have it serviced at the manufacture Jaeger lecoultre in Switzerlan... 

Did your AD confirm you that a " local " service was possible? If yes, then no problem, there is no issue to do so. And it will be much faster! Best, Nicolas

I talked to the texas richemont service center and they said I had the option of going with them servicing it or could even request it being sent to switzerland. I just don't want a shoddy job and want them to do the 1000 hour testing to ensure it keeps g...

So. I have sent my steel master perpetual to JLC (Richemont center in Fort Worth TX) and they have come back with the following estimate, which I think are too high for a simple service. From what I read in the forums and in talking with authorized dealer... 

Any experiences would be greatly appreciated. I just think the manufacture is fleecing.

It was a few months ago...

I enquired further (despite their telling me on phone that the cost of repair at the JLC service facility in US vs switzerland will be the same), and they responded to say that the timepiece will need to be shipped to the manufacture and a new cost estima... 

Hi, I had a very positive experience with my Extreme World Alarm earlier this year. The watch went to Switzerland via Texas, the service was comprehensive, refinishing was included in the price, and I paid about $1,200 USD including all taxes and shipping... 

for a JLC perpetual calendar, $1500 is not bad at all for a service. an overhaul on a Patek Nautilus was $1,000 alone. this is the price you pay for owing such a fine timepiece. regarding the hands, i know of a few companies that can only use the hands ON... 

Thanks tim & mjnoumoff for your responses. However, I am still confused whether o r not this estimate is high. Tim got his EWA (similar degree of complication) done for 1200 USD which seems about right. but mjnoumoff feels 1500 for service but 1624 ( ... 

i want to clarify that i do not think $1500 for the service or even $1600+ including the hands is unrealistic at all. You are talking about a JLC perpetual calendar. an incredibly complicated timepiece from one of the finest watch manufactures. the patek ... 

Since we've agreed that $1,500 is very representative of the service cost of a complicated JLC, I'm not certain anyone here can say with certainty whether the estimate is slightly high or slightly low. Realistically, any estimate that includes comprehensi...
