Several points:
1/ You say you won't dive with it.
It is sure that I will rather consider swimming with it than diving with it at some serious dephts.
BUT...
With the Vintage, you have to avoid water, even in a glass.
I lived it last summer, I was at the beach with my DSA, and just before swimming, I remembered that I'd better take it off my wrist.
With the TT DSA, you will be able to swim with, and even consider some dives at reasonnable depths.
You mentionned the current standards, but, in '59, there was no imperative rule like nowadays, so what to do?
To take some distances from the original and it key points, or to " stick " to the original?
You see the dilemma?
2/ It is not an exact reproduction:
Here, I totally disagree, as said above, JLC stuck to the orginal, and didn't try to enhance the original weak ( weird? ) points of the DSA, it is audacious from " La Grande Maison ", a,nd correct from an hisotrical point of view.
3/ Too expensive?
It is not cheap, yes.
Less expensive than a TTP, though, with more new things to create on the TT DSA than on the TTP.
4/ the strap?
Agree with you, not the strongest point of the watch, for sure.
Best, Kari.
Nicolas.
