Magnetism is a common reason for a watch speeding up.

Also assuming it is not magnetized which I strongly believe is not the cause of this speedup, is +8 considered acceptable? Should it be sent back for adjustments?

Only you can decide what spec you are happy with, but I suggest you take it off the winder and wear it for awhile
By awhile, I mean weeks or a month wear it each day, or every other day. And then experiment with different ways of leaving it on the desk or bedstand at night. Watches are made to be worn and even though the winder may keep it wound so you need not worry...
Wear it
