I think that for a perpetual calendar, an open dial or skeletonized version like this is usually the way to go. Otherwise, the view through the caseback is often not any more compelling for the additional complication.

In watches with legibility issues, the hands are often the culprit
And yet it would be easy to experiment with different hands during the design or prototyping process. I wonder why we end up with these "what if" watches that seem so close but for the hands. About this watch, I like everything except the hands.
So very nice. More legible in rose gold, with its beautiful contrasts.

simple fix for this watch would have been blued steel hands.
I know its platinum but that added contrast would have been perfect.
