Another approach to DIY strap supports for Reverso TT 1931 aftermarket straps. Aka how to avoid Batman ears.

Hello,

I’m really strap junkie. That’s remain from old Paneristi mania Od dressing a watch and change watch character by choosing right strap for occasion.
In my opinion Reverso TT 1931 thanks to its simple black dial has a lot of potential in straps.
But lugs construction is challenging- and straps to keep right geometry needs special inserts to keep it in right position against watch case.
Anyway. After trying co contact eBoutique I got info that my only option to buy is dark brown alligator.

Challenge accepted. And if (for now) I cannot get any JLC strap options in brown - I decided to experiment a bit.

Please see step by step process of crafting epoxy insert (support) build in belly of strap - to avoid strap motion against case. Thanks to this solution there is possibly to adopt any aftermarket strap to Reverso TT 1931 case and ascetics.

The process is still far from optimal and I’m not happy with rough finish but at this moment - it simply works.

I will still try to get OEM ostrich strap with inserts, but it’s a dream only right now.
Meantime I will try to polish my workshop as I would like to get custom novonappa gold leather (leather Hermès uses) strap - as I think this would be good match for my Reverso.

Your serious approach - guidelines on the table, fixture to hold the strap, epoxy for adhesive, etc. is excellent. I have a couple watches and some candidate straps that are already crying out: “fix me, dad, fix me!” Cazalea

Thanks. This is how i fix things- first to buy a lot of tools and stuff...

It’s really me- I like to have tools for everything and any fix is good excuse to go to hardware store But in this case - experienced, by damaging previous strap by not securing non working areas made me smarter. Generally I using epoxy glue as epoxy resi...

Could you explain for a newby to the world of Reverso what the problem is with strap fitting? Do you have an example to illustrate the issue? Thanks.

Please see example

Reverso 1931 needs support to keep strap in position against case. Otherwise strap go down on spring bar axis and reveal pointy lugs. This is visible on smaller wrists. ...

Got it!

Does this apply only to the TT1931, or to other models?
