Hi there,
I am not too sure...you should contact SJX for a comprehensive history...he knows best!
As far as I can remember off the top of my head, there were the reveil, memovox and the AMVOX, up to three years ago. They have gone on to introduce a more complicated model, Master Grand Reveil. They have probably done this in line with collectors wanting watches with more complications on a single time piece. This is not necessarily the best thing to do in practice...in terms of cost of maintenance, if something goes wrong.
However, I hold a very regard for JLC Master series. Afterall, I own a RDM and it is simply a great watch. Master series watches go through 1,000 hours of testing...that is more than double the testing time of COSC chronometers/watches like Rolex and Omega. So far, all Master series owners have never complained about reliability, period.
As for the alarm function...it works well enough. JLC has made watches with alarms for decades. I believe they are one the expert watch houses for this complication. Many other brands make use of their movements.
In short, why you should always consider JLC Master series: 1) In-house movement developed by JLC; 2) Master series undergoing rigorous testing for accuracy; 3) Classic design and 4) experts in making watches with have an alarm function.
By the way, there should not be too many of these brand new babies around anymore. You will have to get in touch with dealers, otherwise you will have to hunt around in auctions!
Regards,
Ardi
