David, I am intrigued.  What about the alarm watch? 

Well, I am happy to provide pics of the EWC below.  And more if you want them - just  let me know.  What else do you want to know about the watch? The EWC is kind of like a JLC chrono on steroids, not just because of its size, but also due to its many other features.  If it is comfortable on your wrist and you like its look, it would be an amazing piece fo you.

I seem to be drawn to the JLC chronos (the AMVOX 2, the Squadra, the older but wonderful Reverso Chronographe Retrograde Cal 829, and the Duometre)-- that would make a nice little themed collection right there, eh?)  I may get another one -- we shall see.  While JLC chronos are not the most beautifully finished available, I think the Manufacture has produced some of the most interesting chronographs in recent years, especially witht eh AMVOX and the Duometre.

I have had the EWC for a little over a year, and I love it as much now as when I first got it.  Absolutely no regrets.  It is incredibly versatile and a great travel companion. The shock absorption system and world time function are also great for travel and other activities.  Bernard Cheong did an interesting "road test" of the EWC a year or two ago.  It made for one of the best and funniest posts ever on this site: jlc.watchprosite.com .

 

The rubber strap is very comfortable and in some ways suits this watch the best, I believe.  Above with maximum red showing.

I LOVE the bracelet on this watch.  It definitely increases the bling factor, but it is incredibly comfortable and is highly adjustable with two half links on either side of the clasp mechanism that can be adjusted without removing any additional links. With the bracelet, the SS version of the EWC is somewhat heavy, but consider wearing it as time you don't have to spend at the gym.

The business side of the rubber strap.  Definitely a sporty look for the watch. Take it swimming in the Eglish Channel.

I did not care for the brown leather strap on the EWC at first, but is has definitely grown on me.  It is a nice strap and with the white stitching, I think it has a semi-casual look. For me it is the least comfortable of the straps, but it may still need some breaking in.  There are more straps available to suit your taste, and with the strap change mechanism, changing the look is a snap without any need for special tools or risking damage to your watch.
