A Superb Piece, Very Special

And I think your photos are better than you allow, especially since they were taken extempore. JLC really touched me with this variant, and it was the first of the Lunaire models that caught my eye in any way. While I appreciated the chronometric intent of the original, I always felt that this complication amounted to an under-utilization of the Dual-Wing caliber concept.

But this 40.5mm case, the new bezel profile, the stunning Grand Feu dial, and the richly rendered metallic moon (as opposed to photo-realistic) changed my mind. This version is warm, romantic, and feels like a special enough package to do justice to the movement within. Sure, a moon phase and a date don't tax the Dual-Wing in any meaningful way, but I like the juxtaposition of "cerebral" appeal (i.e., chronometric excellence) with purely "emotional" appeal (i.e., moon phase and craft art).

Do keep us apprised if you decide to take the plunge!

Best,
Tim
