A little info on charity founder DJ Mbenga...
Dec 03, 2009,12:20 PM
I had a opportunity to interview DJ Mbenga and speak to him about his charity. He champions the cause of children due to his own life experiences and hardships. I know that NBA basketball may not be as popular outside the States, but here in the U.S., DJ Mbenga is famous for this incident:
from google news search:
"In 2006, Mbenga gained a suspension for 6-games without pay when he
voluntarily moved into the stands after he saw the coach, Avery
Johnson's wife being harassed by some fans. He helped usher Mrs.
Johnson to the safety of the locker room along with team owner Mark
Cuban. However, his intentions weren't considered in the hearing where
Stu Jackson, Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations, decided
to ban him as per the rules."
"Didier Ilunga-Mbenga is a Belgian-Congolese basketball player who plays
in the professional NBA league in the United States of America. Didier
had a terrible childhood in his home country of Zaire, as it was known
then. His father, a government employee, was imprisoned when a regime
change occurred in the country. Didier was also imprisoned and was
meant to be executed. While his father couldn't save himself, he
managed to bargain for the lives of his children, Didier included.
Mbenga left the country on a plane to Belgium and took asylum in a
refugee center."
DJ is truly a stand up guy and I'd like to give much respect to Jaeger LeCoultre for recognizing a charity worth associating with and getting Mbenga's message out for the children in need.

Mbenga is sporting an awfully nice minute repeater... The watch is a big watch in person, but it looks very classically sized on his large wrist. Thanks for the coverage DRMW!
