Reverso 1931 needs support to keep strap in position against case. Otherwise strap go down on spring bar axis and reveal pointy lugs.
This is visible on smaller wrists.

Your serious approach - guidelines on the table, fixture to hold the strap, epoxy for adhesive, etc. is excellent. I have a couple watches and some candidate straps that are already crying out: “fix me, dad, fix me!” Cazalea
