Which is the JLC Watch that made you love JLC?
By: amanico : February 28th, 2008-08:15
A bit more than 10 years ago, while I began to be seriously interested in watches, I was in a watch shop where I saw a Master Geographique... I was amazed by this time keeper, as the guy explained to me how it worked, the "officer" case back, and so on......
RDM:-)
By: marcelo : February 28th, 2008-08:35
While being a watch enthusiast since eight years old, I just had the opportunity to buy my first mechanical watch in 2005, at 35, in Antwerp , Belgium – a TAG Heuer Carrera Tachy Chrono. The watch ignited the fire and I began to collect catalogues from al...
Nice story, nice pics, nice watch
By: amanico : February 28th, 2008-08:49
Wow, really lovely, this RDM. The thin case, the ideal proportions, the relative simplicity of the dial, with some depth, and contrast... Very nice. Thanks for sharing your intimate story! LOL Best.Nicolas
Master Moon
By: 1440 : February 28th, 2008-09:09
Although I had a Rolex at the time, I consider the MM my first serious watch purchase. I fell in love with the proportions of the watch and the classic styling - I still prefer it to the Master Calendar actually. I still have it and still love it. Other w...
First love was the Master Moon........
By: Andy : February 28th, 2008-10:33
I must have been given a catalogue by a dealer at some time and the Master Moon just stood out as stunning. I kept getting new catalogues and it was still there, then finally I decided to go for it and went down to my dealer and asked if he could order me...
Reverso
By: DrStrong : February 28th, 2008-12:33
my first JLC was a Reverso "classique" that I bought about ten years ago. I remember I was wearing it when my first son was born... I have sold it after a while because it was too small, but someday I will fall again for the new XLarge size.

I walked into what was to become my AD, and a great, enthusiatic salesperson took about two hours showing me different watches and introducing me to a number of brands during a special event they were holding. He was good about respecting my price range (...

Amazing watch
By: DrStrong : February 29th, 2008-05:37
is the dial black or slate ?
Black Dial
By: Casey : February 29th, 2008-16:39
The SS version has a glossy black dial. My pictures do not capture the true beauty of the glossy black. I am not sure if it is still available, but a few years ago JLC offered Compressor models in white gold. The White Gold models had a slate dial.
The Amvox I got the ball rolling for me

Actually the avalanche. I haven't looked back since. I also made a good friend; actually a few friends. Basically this whole community have become friends. To cut a long story short. I had been a one Rolex 24/7 man for about 15 years. Never took it off. T...

The Amvox 1 for me too.
By: johnsinger56 : March 1st, 2008-22:32
I have been collecting for a few years; Patek, Journe, VC, and a few others. I tried on various JLC pieces in the past but they just didn't work for me. Recently I decided I needed a watch with Alarm function for travel and have acquired the Amvox 1 in ti...
For me it is not only about watches
By: PoyFR : February 29th, 2008-03:56
It started in the 80’s > I have never been a wearer of the Reverso watches, but from the 80’s I always admired Jaeger-LeCoultre watches which often left me hesitant despite my true appreciation for them. The first Jaeger-LeCoultre I purchased was a lady d...

More on the Geomatic...
By: Tony C. : March 1st, 2008-05:16
Thank you for your kind comments, Nicolas. As a vintage collector, I was initially attracted to high-grade automatics from the 1950's through the early 1970's. The IWC Ingenieur was my first, and remains my favorite of that period. The Geomatic was anothe...
MUT and RDM
By: MartyW : March 6th, 2008-21:41
My history is pretty simple as it is only 6 months old. About 6 months ago I bought my dad a vintage JLC. In that process I realized I like the modern JLC a lot more. So I went to my local AD. The first watch I tried on was a Master Ultra Thin. I liked it...
Nice story!
By: amanico : March 6th, 2008-23:33
But now that you made your mind on the MUT, and the RDM, and that your mind is free now, don't you think that there is some place for another, and what should it be? Thanks again, Marty, for your input! Nicolas
It all started with a Timex
By: alfanator : April 22nd, 2008-22:49
When I was in the 3rd grade, my father ran the ad agency thart represented Timex in Singapore. I got to choose one watch for my birthday, it was a square Timex. I was hooked on watches from that day. Looking through my father's collection of watches, dabb...
