Waiting for the larger diameter, no date version, no magnetic case (thinner) and manual wind. I can live with a PR. It has to be manual, so you can touch that nice crown as frequent as possible.
Current 46mm BP is like a hockey puck, I tried it in a local AD last week again but it was the same result, even the the dial is 46 mm, the thickness of the watch really shows, so I am dreaming the version I described above

I actually like the power reserve indicator, this guy is 60 hr with a decorated open caseback The iwc website has some nice glamour shots of the 5002
PR indicator on an automatic watch is pointless but I totally get it on manual wound watches.
That said, I always wind my manuals every morning even if the have a PR of more than 48 hours.
Ahh... I don’t have my few automatics I have on winders...so a PR indicator is always useful to me :)
PR indicator on back is acceptable and some Might say preferred ...

The automatic ruins the clean dial. (Besides I never understood why automatic is written on so many dials)

I would agree but leave it empty and you've go a huge blank space that doesn't look good. Similar to the AP RO 15500, there is nothing there and it doesn't look good and just accentuates how big it is. If this watch was 36mm instead of 43mm it wouldn't be...
The B-Uhr had a completely naked dial and no one complained... 😉
Plus, there are quite a few current watches with little or no inscription which appear to be acceptable. Photos from the Internet ...

I doubt anyone complained back the 40s. Those had to be big and legible for a reason and were worn around a flightsuit. Those were actual tool watches. The current IWC not so much.

IWC is doing sooo many things right at the moment! The new pilot watches look great, have good case sizes, excellent bracelets, fantastic dial colors and in-house movements without exploding in price. After the iconic Portuguese line was updated last year...
You are very right.
If they continue well like this, Aquatimer and Ingenieur lines which have strong heritage can be reborn.
