I think it’s simply the idea of watches being “machines”, even if “legacy machines”, that doesn’t really resonate with me. I don’t see my watches as machines, but rather as “companions” (it sounds a bit silly, I agree), little things which accompany your life and can be passed to the next generation (sounds a bit stupid and very predictable, again I agree). I guess my vision of watchmaking is just “romantic” or something like that. Whereas these machines are rather playful and proud technical prowesses, and there’s nothing wrong with that: it’s just not what I’m looking for…
