Why tokyo?
I mean, there are many watchmakers today living and having previews from Dubai, the 5th av. in NYC is still one of most appealing places in the world, like place vendome in paris...just to mention some famous locations where GF could have placed their first boutique.
Am i wrong if i think that they've received the most positive feedbacks (in terms of feelings and revenues) from japanese collectors?
i'm still missing tokyo among the asian cities i've visited, so sooner or later (but i'll need at least 2 weeks)

Testing the water - Japan has been always such a market....
With its long watch loving history, depth/ breadth, and long-time grown sophistication, Swiss brands have been seeing Japan market in that context. So, to me, it is not surprising at all that they chose Tokyo as its first boutique. May or may not very muc...
I vouch for that. Japanese collectors are among the most if not the most discerning collectors in the word.
This applies too to many fine arts areas. Z'

To add on, I think Japan has the greatest concentration of Dufour Simplicities as a nation.
Says something about their understanding and appreciating of quality watchmaking. Plus, it's a big market with a relatively affluent population.
