The Urwerk has landed!!!
Jun 18, 2021,15:26 PM
Hi all
Incredible day yesterday finally putting the Urwerk 203 on my wrist.
First job was definitely to change the strap that was on the watch, and thanks to the wonderful support from Urwerk Geneva I was able to obtain one of the new straps used for several of the new pieces. I will post a strap tutorial later (it's super easy and intuitive - just regular screws and loctite)...
First positive impressions:
o Definitely an outerworldly three/four dimensional design philosophy which is mixed with some really incredible curves, angles, and surfaces which is refreshing via a vis other watch models. This is to the case, the crystal, and the movement.
o Surprisingly, with the black coating it wears more elegant than I expected, and with a croc strap could go with a Tuxedo or formalwear
o Winding and movement is simple yet executed with complication - a satellite complication with the extending rods is pretty neat with the "customised" winding settings on the back
o The new strap is incredible and fits the aesthetic very well IMHO
o It wears like a Panerai 44mm model - a little top heavy but not excessively so - a bit organic in ts connection to my wrist
Some challenges:
- Usefulness of "oil change" and "150 year" indicator - would have loved to see something more dynamic, but nonetheless its innovative
- The PVD case does have the potential for getting marked, so need to be careful
- The strap does not have a "security stop" like dive straps, so when you take off the watch there is a risk of dropping if you don't hold it properly
Some photos below!!! Many thanks all for your kind welcome to the Urwerk and Indie family!!!
Cheers
Peter

Peter.. do they come with other colour such as yellow/green? I saw black with the Velcro but I prefer with tang buckle. Love the “step” details. Thank you for sharing especially on how to DIY on the strap change .. currently I always bring it back to the ...
Nice photo and style…

Thanks for the feedback. I’ve attached below some alternative straps for the tang - and I think they match the colors you are asking about! Outside of a steady hand and some elbow grease, I think the strap changing is super easy - literally just screws in...

Amazing… Just curious what your thoughts were if they had made it out of ceramic instead of PVD?
I totally wish!!

I am a super fan of ceramic because of its lightness and scratch resistance. I think the hardest wearing material used today by them must be the AlTiN models. I can imagine it’s not easy at all to machine ceramic with so many crazy angles and surfaces. Ma...

The strap makes a big difference in extending the design aesthetic beyond the case… Cheers, Peter
Crazy and fun sits well in the collection..

Perhaps I haven’t gone the deeper end yet - so this timepiece likely initiates a journey which will make an even bigger dent in the wallet. I think other members are right - there is only so much patience and continuous purchasing one needs to keep up wit...
Ahh yes…probably the most I’ve ever paid for a strap…

But as you recall from Panerai days, not so far from pre-V straps. And - not necessarily a full justification, but the particular strap is inclusive of a buckle - so that perhaps offsets the cost a little bit? Cheers, Peter
