The HM imo is truly amazing.

While the LogicalOne is in my top 3 watches of all time, the HM is exquisite as a time only watch.

The design of Romain’s first watch, is off the charts in terms of engineering. He chose solutions to traditional aspects of watchmaking that he thought could be improved. The back winder for example is more efficient mechanically and creates less stress on the winding system, so that over time it will last longer. There is no 90’ gearing in a typical winding stem.

The screw slots being “S” shaped, are to improve the ability to tighten them without damaging the slot by putting pressure on either inner side on opposite sides if a traditional straight slot. It also has the advantage of not allowing a screw driver to slide out of the slot and damage the highly finished movement.
Once I understood why he designed these aspects, I gained a better appreciation for his work.
The hand finishing as many have previously mentioned, is top notch. Traditional and expertly applied using the local Gentian wood collected in the valley.

I have had the pleasure of handling many of his watches over the years, and can attest to their brilliance. Plus Romain is a great guy!

I’d really encourage you to look at the finishing of other Logical One pieces. This one is rather industrial, but not typical. Open work is not for everyone, which I get. However RG and his finishing is are worthy of significant accolades.
