Many thanks for your reaction.
The dates given should not be taken too literally. I have taken much of my inspiration from these times without making a blunt copy.
The fundamental idea of the case was to create a sturdy shell for the movement, a kind of safe. It should be possible to wear my watch in daily life and the wearer should not be afraid of it. Why we have needed some more material at the lugs in order not to have to struggle with bent lugs after the first hitting. A true water resistance over 5 bars was written very high on the specification list. This requires that the glass thicknesses are dimensioned accordingly and that the bezel and case back are fitted with full threads. What's the use of a modern wristwatch today, which is not water-resistant or not enough ? Since a light rain shower or washing hands could already lead to damages to the movement.
As Andrew has already mentioned in the third part of the presentation, the reconditioning of the case should not cause any difficulties in future. Thus the construction follows a simple and straightforward scheme and lives without dispensable embellishments.
These specifications were developed jointly with Eric and he has construed the design of the case exactly in that direction. This is precisely the great strength of Eric, he can enable the individual requirements of different clients and hence each design is individual.
I hope I could explain the unbalance between the movement and the case with those inputs.
Thanks a lot, Bernhard
