Some additional info on the cool MB&F HM1 briefcase

After seeing Bernard's HM1 and the accompanying packaging, the very cool looking packaging caught my eye. I emailed Max for more details on the bag, especially if it was available separately from the watch.
Unfortunately, it is not. :-(
But Max did share some interesting details about the bag, which is far, far more elaborate than it appears (italics are mine)...
"The bag was custom made by Etro (Italian family-owned couturier based in Milano – www.etro.com ) for us. Believe it or not,
we worked about 12 months with them to come up with it ! Multiple designs and materials were chosen and tested, until we were happy with the result.
I finally settled on this shape and material, which is a mix of three high-end woollen cloths: pinstripe, herringbone and flannel to symbolize the gathering of all the Friends. The lining is close to the colour I affection indeed as the lining of my blazer…
There will only be 100 bags crafted over three year which will accompany the 100 Horological Machine No1. And they are unfortunately not for sale as they are reserved for the owners of HM1.
My first idea for the Etro bag was to have the lining in their stunning patterned silk, but the bag creators at Etro dissuaded me saying that it would certainly look great when new, but would deteriorate with use very quickly – and that is something I could not accept, so we settled for the tough nylon interior which is now.
...Etro had never before crafted any product for a third party. This is a testimony to their enthusiasm in being part of this creative adventure and I am extremely grateful to Kean Etro and Fabio Gnocchi (marketing director), who made this possible.
Important also is the metal plaque inside which says “Etro for MB&F”. Definitely a very enjoyable partnership! "
The packaging is definitely most elaborate, creative and useful presentation I have ever seen; it's just like the watch - distinctive, superb quality and tastefully done. Kudos to Max and friends!
