OnlyWatch 2015: Laurent Ferrier "Galet Square"

Jul 07, 2015,14:39 PM

This time it is a special edition of the cushion shaped Galet Square from Laurent Ferrier that is unveiled.

This model (41 x 41mm), new in LF's collection is very nice looking as well as elegant.

The watch presented for the Only Watch 2015 auction is made of steel and has a unique sector dial.

It houses the beautiful Galet Micro-rotor's movement.

I find this interpretation very well inspired.

Cheers, Mark

but this sector dial brings again something more, I like it too. In fact, I like a lot of the watches presented for this auction :) Cheers, Mark

Many elements are appealing indeed here

I wasn't a fan so much of sector dials but here it works fantasticaly. Yes the lugs are nice, and so is the case! Cheers, Mark

It is quite frustrating when unique items are a true success and you don't use it as a standard model, even for a small production. On the other hand it makes it even more exceptional. Cheers, Mark

not convinced at all. At least for me it does not work as I decode the watch esthetics as follows: - take a good large and thick "cushion" case, most associated with Panerai - add a touch of Speake Marin in the fixings of the strap - a 1930's sector dial,...

Ow Z', I don't know what makes these elements (shape and lugs) only Panerai and SM ones

If so, then we can say this for every watch. I can take any watch and find an element which has been used before on another model. But I understand your other points as it really doesn't sing to you. Thanks for sharing your opinion. Cheers, Mark

Be my guest :-)

We can indeed find a very few watches which are completly original. But for the huge majority of the watches, you'll always find a detail (hands, lugs, numerals fonts) which existed somewhere else before. Is it a reason to say they are not legitimate? Are...
