This year, I was fortunate to pick up a special 39mm version of Laurent Ferrier’s double spiral tourbillon. Admittedly, I owned a nearly identical watch about 10 years ago, and I loved nearly everything about it. The beautiful enamel dial, the curvy but simple case, and the spectacular movement. Even its slightly large 41mm case was comfortable. As happens, time passed and that watch moved out to make room for another. But this year, I came across something I had not seen before—a far less common 39mm version of the same watch. Apparently, LF made them for certain collectors, even including chronometer certifications for some of the pieces. At 39mm, the watch wears just like the elegant Galet microrotor, one of the most comfortable watches I’ve had. So some more things moved around, and now this special LF is back in the collection.
