Sorry for the long radio silence here. Been incredibly busy at work for months and months now. Typically starting my work day at 6am or even earlier and working till crazy late evenings . I do log in and read your lovely posts from time to time folks but forgive me when I don’t reply or post here.
I actually miss many of you so much !
Anyway, I have made a few purchases the past few months that are all focused on steel sports watches. AP, Rolex.... true they are more versatile especially in hot Singapore weather but how many sports watches do we need ?
I have always wanted a rose gold slate dial dress watch and considered quite a few haute horology maisons and their offerings. But I don’t want a “same old” kind of dress watch - same rose gold case with just a different coloured watch. I wanted something slightly different - still classical (not like an Mb&f Horological Machine for eg) but something a bit different / off the beaten track so that rules out the likes of VC, Lange, Chopard LUC , Etc.
Finally I found the model I really like. Parmigiani Tonda 1950 in red gold and a graphite dial. The colour combination is exactly what I like ! The lume hands, dial design stands out as classical but not “same old”. The movement , case , lugs are simply beautifully crafted ! Somehow I prefer the micro motor (crafted in platinum) movement of Parmigiani more than Chopard LUC’s in terms of the design of it even though they look similar (Chopard LUC models were a close second on my decision process) . Finishing wise, imho, the Parmigiani is on par with the Geneva seal Chopard LUC micro rotor movements and superior to the non Geneva seal ones. Tough choice but in the end I chose this.
Also this brand is so under the radar . Only we know what it is
Enjoy the pics.
Oh and these have been what I have been collecting over the past few months. Somehow the older 39mm AP ROs (which I got preowned but prices these days have gone mad!) and sports Rolexes got to me (still on waitlist for a hot Rolex model!). Probably following the sports watch herd trend too much ! After a while, not too sure as I still think fine “dress watches “ make me smile more
