Having posted a few hundred reports on this site, this is the first time I’m complaining. The Fortis Stratoliner was launched with huge fanfare in 2022. I bought one in June from an official dealer and by October, was finding the watch defective even though I had only used it for two short periods since purchase.
Now, like many collectors, I’ve suffered problems (rarely) with new purchases but my experience is that these defects were always resolved under guarantee, hence no complaints.
This time, however, my local Fortis dealer was unfriendly and then tried to fix the problem on his own. When the watch was sent in, the chronometer was malfunctioning. He restored the function but the chronometer hand no longer returned to zero at rest (see photos).
I then contacted Fortis in Switzerland by email only to meet a long silence followed by unhelpful responses. It was suggested I didn’t know how to use the chronometer function properly. Fortis‘ attitude was unfriendly even though they acknowledged the watch was under their guarantee.
I will have the watch fixed by an independent watch repairer I trust. But I feel I should share this bad experience so potential buyers of Fortis products should be aware
