An Art of Watchmaking Exhibition

benlee338,

I'm sorry for your experience but to be clear, this is not a commercial showcase.

A reference book about Independent watchmakers was also produced.

It is an exhibition of horological art by independent watchmakers. The world tour pulled together most of the top watchmakers today and their timepieces on show at the same location.

It is highly unusual for any one place to have all those pieces on public view.

That is why it is exhibited in an art exhibition room belonging to Phillips Auction House, even if they are not immediately for sale.

At each location, a 'panel discussion Q&A session' was held, with different watchmakers in attendance..

For London, the panel watchmakers were Roger Smith, Ludovic Ballouard and Christophe Claret on the evening of 20th June 2018.

In the audience, Daniel and Jean Daniels attended and so did Stephen Forsey (see a report later).

Regards,

MTF

Only a handfull of watches are on show, all of them in glass enclosed display cases. Cant see the watches closeup or handle them. The brands do not have anyone there. Don’t be bothered. Waste of time.

But I don't see anyone there, only guards in suits. Each display case has a write up of the watch and that's it. As the watches are all inside their glass box, I can't even see them up close. I took some photos and left after 20 mins. A total waste of tim...

Waste of time? Hmm, that was pretty much the opposite of my take. It was fantastic! For one, the fact that it is not crowded is a plus. Each watch/grouping of watch is in a case and the cases are arranged in such a way that you can see both all the angles...
