A watch with an unique design : the TME01 from Marc Alfieri
The Salon Belles Montres gave me the opportunity to see and handle a very special watch which was introduced in 2007: the TME01 by french designer Marc Alfieri (TME stands for Time Measure Experience).
Marc Alfieri has launched his own brand, it's the reason why the TME01, the first of the collection, is an uncompromising watch with an unique design.
The first very surprising point is the size of the watch. If you have a small wrist, forget it ! The titanum case is 54mmx43mm. Due to its rectangular shape, it's huge ! But thanks to the rounded corners, the overall design is a bit "lighter" than expected.
The second surprising point is the dial:
It seems to be extracted from a video game of the 80's !
Even if a lot of information are displayed on it, even if there are several colors, the dial is well organized and the watch is easy to read.
The horological content is heavy. Thus, you can find:
- a tourbillon
- an am/pm indicator
- a second timezone indicator displayed through a window
- a power reserver indicator
- a trust indicator
- a monopusher and monor subdial chronograph
... and of course the hours and the minutes displayed through large rectangular hands.
Obviously, the presence of the tourbillon, the chronograph anf the trust indicator makes us think about BNB. Because we can also find these functions in the Concord C1 developed by them:
And we are right. The caliber was developed by BNB. The design of this caliber is superb and this originality gives a nice touch to the watch. The plate of the caliber is made of carbon fibre. It's the reason why the pattern of the caliber is an enlarged view of a stitch of this carbon fibre.
The caliber has a power reserve of 120 hours and a frequency of 3hz.
Sadly, I don't have any wristshot because I took the picture in a very dark part of the salon. The only thing I can say is that when you wear the TME01, you really feel its huge size. But it is stil comfortable.
The TME01 is a very special watch, maybe a bit too excessive. You may like it or not, at least, Marc Alfieri created a watch with an unique design. The collectors who look for watches with a strong and uncompromising design won't be disappointed.
The TME01 will be available in 20 titanum pieces, in 20 carbone fibre/PG pieces and in 3 "tailor-made" pieces with specific materials.
