I probably should halt the movement in the event the screw is floating around !!

My guess is that they never put the screw in. You would have probably already seen it affect the balance wheel or gear train by now.

This is unbelievable ! It's so obvious . It would be like a surgeon leaving his shoe in your abdomen before closing !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sad to see this, sorry for the (unbelievable) trouble they put you through! I'd definitely ship it back without using it any further. They should seriously fix it now and return it to you in no time...along with some very convincing explanations! ;-)

+1...it appears to be omitted from other Classic Origin movements. Numerous online photos will confirm this.

Yes, should be an access hole, designed to be exactly there for removing the crown with its stem.

Despite what others are saying, if you Google the watch, it isn't missing a screw...

It actually looks like there should be a screw there. Kind of disappointed in the way it appears but if it’s normal, I’m happy. ￼

Most watches have a "button" or lever to press to release the stem, but most watches either hide it discretely and/or don't have display backs

The hole in question is a smaller diameter than the screws that can be seen. My vote is this isn't the problem.

LF contacted me and informed me all is well. They were very polite, courteous, and respectful. They have restored my faith in the brand. All is well. ￼
