you already have a chronograph..
..if you really want a chronograph, what you can do is instead of spending all on the VC chronograph, get yourself an Omega Speedie (can be used), and you MUST buy the Submariner at the same time. Everyone needs a Sub in their collection whether you like it or not 
My take is, the Sub has lots of history, true, tried and tested by so many as the watch, solidly built, it makes you feel different although it is available everywhere. Get the older version sub if still available. I hope you get the Sub and read your review, feelings and emotional state, if any, when you get it. Its design, like the Speedie, not much changes and its use, stays true after more than 50 years. Its a true classic!

At least it is a true Rolex, while this VC is a strange attempt from the brand in the Sports watch world... It sounds tough, but it is my opinion. I don't see it as a true VC, while this Rolex is a true one. Best, Nicolas.

if they did a new sub with a red 'Submariner' writing I'd be first on the list. It's a classic and does exactly what it says on the tin...in the flesh it is stunning too. Just my opinion of course. Andy.

I would suggest to go to a Chronograph but the Vacheron is far from being my fav one. The Sub is a classic so I would choose the Rolex. But keep in mind the idea of the chronograph! Fx

And to be frank, the Sub and the VC are quite different. The VC is more like sports elegance whilst the Sub is more akin to a true sports rugged watch, which you already have in the form of the UTS. So if it HAS TO BE ONE OF THE TWO, I say the VC, which h...

... how about an Overseas Chrono? I had this exact Royal Eagle before and I love it to bits. The build quality blew me away. However, it is a discontinued model now, and I believe VC have improved things a lot in the newer Overseas Chrono.
That gets my vote.
I've never been the biggest fan of the RE, but a nice semi-sporty watch like an overseas or a AP Royal oak (not offshore) might fit well into the collection, even a Breguet type XX or XXI A

Not a fan of the Royal Eagle. Nor of the cyclops, so I would go Sea Dweller or no date Sub. Cheers, Vte
My vote's for the VC...
...although I'd prefer an Overseas. Subs are common. It seems like I see them every day. Not that there's anything wrong with that...they are great watches and I wish I still had mine...but I'd still choose the VC.
