with 8003 references from Breguet, Blancpain, Lange, Patek, Vacheron, Longines and AP (42.3% done) categorized, the 37mm gap continues

I'm beginning to believe they really have something against my wrist size!

If anyone has questions of the sort "Does anyone make a watch of diameter X that has complication y?" that you'd like banged against this data, PM me. It's got case dimensions, materials, dial colors, calibre frequency, size, complications of all sorts.   Not all complete for every indexed reference but a lot of detail for a lot of them. (oh, there can be errors in the data too... smile )

What exactly are the y-axis units…are these the total number of watches for a specific year? And why do you say the 37mm gap continues? It doesn’t have the lowest total. Are you referring to a different feature of the 37s?

here's the methodology

I grab up as many reference numbers as I can find for each maker. So far, here are the totals of references I've found mentioned (I don't imagine it's all the references they have each created, it's just all that I could find mentioned somewhere in the in...

Ah, I get it now, thank you for clarifying 👍🏽

That’s an intensive effort trying to account for as many models per brand as possible. Nonetheless, I do see the conclusion about certain size preferences that you draw from this visual. Of course, as such initial descriptive analyses tend to do, other qu...

didn't take long at all

Still not perfect split but here's distribution of watches with "precious" metals (perhaps more often dressy), across the same range and here's the distribution of watches mostly made of rugged materials like stainless steel, titanium, carbon fibre, carbo...

Why didn’t you include Rolex as a major brand?

Actually, I’m sure it’s a lot more time consuming than I realize, otherwise there’s lots of other key brands not on list. Your effort does make me wonder whether a site like Watchfinder allows for easy database access/download through an API. Highly unlik...

Yeah, I'm going to have to take a big breath before I dive into Rolex - though I don't know yet if they have more references vs more qty sold of each reference

As to Watchfinder and other sources, I'm not scraping them for data - while facts about watches are fair game, one can't simply scarf up a database and re-issue it. So I'm doing it the hard way so that it's all legitimately researched. While it's work, it...
