What there?

Micro brands, that players who try to find the people for their creations.
I seen a lot on the net. Some are really nice to see.
I almost touched the buttons to order a watch, but something holds me not to order.
Is it the unknown? No fame?
What can you aspect from such a watch?
Fall it off, spots on the glass, a broken crown, cheap steel,
a cheap looking dial, bad accuracy, what does the market do when you want to sell it and nobody knows the brand?

Coincidence, i looked this morning Benzinger. It was a advertisement where i put on.
The guy is a wizard of guilouching the advert say.
Made all watches in Potzheim and he deliver work for chronoswiss and IWC.
Nice looking things, but i had difficulties to find the hands which blends into the movement. The others where some George Daniel designs and some others let me know of a ruined Breguet. A bit to much guilouched. hahaha.

Code41 is a micro-brand who do a different price point than Benzinger. Affordable quality.
Clear where they order the parts, some strap innovations,
original design, listen to the feedback of their customers.

Independents is in my eyes another watch department.
I am not a guy who stare blind on that label.
Nothing wrong with a member of a luxury devision of a jewelry house like Louis Vuiton or Richemont.
I will never buy a watch for the reason independent.
If i buy an independent, it’s for it’s great design and finding the watch very nice like i do with non independents.
Independents have that imago never been in trouble, and do not picked up by a giant in luxury goods.
So, friends, do not worry about JLC! I respect them, and wear your JLC with proud, a tru watch brand, and better to buy a JLC than a micro brand which you do not know what it is. More value, more history.
A micro brand, do it only, or i do it only when i got a free test watch.

Micro-brands - yah or nay or what's your say?

So many micro-brands popping up these days, some homage to well-known brands, use Japanese movements or ETA, would be interesting to see what you think of these watches, buy or never? As a watch lover myself, I have known brands and micro-brands as well, ...

IF ...

they completely rework the movement, make an own dial etc , like the French Pascal Coyon or Lecomte ... 100% YES. If it's just another company buying a movement, case, dial and hands, put everything together and print their name on the dial ... 100% NO

Heavily depends. Where do we draw the line between micro-brands and independents? [nt]

My first watch was from Resco Instruments. I established some hate-love-relationship. Love because it was my first mechanical watch and hate because I found out the dial design was not that orginal and it was way to overpriced. Couldn't get past the hate ...

Well, that's what I asked! Where do we draw the line for them?

Is Ming considered independent or a micro-brand? What about Habring2? Independent or a micro-brand?

Anyone? (nt)

Not for me.

For me a mechanical watch is a sustainable product : I pass if I am not sure whether the watch can be maintained or repaired properly in the years to come.

I saw a local brand azimuth, not sure you can classify it as a micro-brand.

Founded in Singapore but workshop in Swiss. They uses Swiss movement that goes through extensive modification. Wanted to pull the trigger on the Mr Roboto but the prices just too close fr comfort, a little bit more and I can get a non-circular shape watch...

The brand classification (microbrand, independent, major brand) doesn't matter much to me...

If I get a good aesthetic first impression of a watch -- if it speaks to me -- then I'll look into it further and consider things such as price point, ease of servicing and getting parts, etc.
