Who knows... 😊

What I can definitely say: my Moser Endeavor Perpetual Calendar Purity with its very, very dark black-blue dial is significantly less reflective than the one Vantablack model I saw.

Nevertheless: your Vantablack Diamonds watch is a marvel and gem and looks wonderful. And there seems to be no mirror effect on your first picture.

Cheers
Thomas

WatchProSite Review: H. Moser Venturer Vantablack Diamonds Watch

 By: patrick_y : March 19th, 2021-13:01
WatchProSite Moderator Patrick_y reviews the H. Moser Venturer Vantablack Diamonds Concept watch. After meeting a few celebrities wearing jeweled watches, Patrick_y has been fascinated with jeweled watches, because of their sparkle and because they're pra...

Lets cut to the chase....

 By: Thomas_3 : March 19th, 2021-13:15
what is the price??

Approximately $50,000 USD!

 By: patrick_y : March 19th, 2021-13:29

Admittedly, same here.

 By: patrick_y : March 21st, 2021-11:37
I was expecting with 3.77 carats that we'd be looking at a roughly $30,000 USD premium (around $8,000 per carat for small pave diamonds, the money is in the labor in the application of the stones) over a standard gold-cased Moser. But it's slightly less t...

Not a terrible price...

 By: mdg : March 19th, 2021-14:35
...but I wish they (and others) would add some inward angles to the movement : )

Ahh, a true aficionado!

 By: patrick_y : March 21st, 2021-11:33
Yes, some sharper and concave angles combined with terminal edges would be more emotional! And would require more hand operations!

I know $50k is kind of boring around these parts, but it seems...

 By: mdg : March 21st, 2021-14:22
...that it SHOULD buy you some serious finishing. I can dream at least.

Actually $50K is a lot of money for a watch, especially a simple watch. It should have EXCEPTIONAL FINISHING at that price point!

 By: patrick_y : March 21st, 2021-15:33
This is why I find the MB&F Legacy Machines so reasonable. It's around this price point (okay, a little more perhaps), they have excellent finishing, and they're low volume pieces! And if you can get a Moser for $20K in a steel case, with exceptional fini...

Thinner is always more elegant...

 By: mdg : March 19th, 2021-13:20
...the diamonds alone make the statement. Nobody wants to wear a watch that pushes the cuff of the shirt up on one side : )

I agree, thin is elegant. But if I wanted to show off my beautiful diamond watch, it'd be a good excuse if my shirt cuff couldn't cover it!

 By: patrick_y : March 19th, 2021-13:33
This isn't exactly a classically elegant timepiece, this is very much a statement piece. It's not supposed to be subtle. You and I being the "Silicon Valley type" are not the ideal wearers of this watch. But if we moved to LA and were in show business, th...

I have to admit i like it a lot .

 By: Watchonthewrists : March 19th, 2021-14:56
Not something you will wear every day but def a watch that can have a nice spot in a collection imho

It is very nice indeed!

 By: patrick_y : March 19th, 2021-19:46
If I had some extra money lying around, I'd get a jeweled watch. I already miss it a little bit!

Thanks Patrick for a very nice review, I think it's a really charming piece...definitely not easy to wear, but I probably wouldn't mind it on select occasions! ;-)

 By: FabR : March 19th, 2021-15:51
$50k is not in an easy segment, but the novelty of the Vantablack seems like a pretty attractive one (though I'll reserve judgement until I can see one in person)... Cheers ;-)

Agreed... At $50K, you have a lot of options, especially when you consider other non-jeweled timepieces...

 By: patrick_y : March 19th, 2021-19:46
But this one is definitely a cool piece! Definitely a statement piece, not an under-the-radar piece. The watch wants to see flashbulbs!

It certainly is a statement piece, with a nice movement to boot.

 By: halkcb : March 19th, 2021-20:48
The price tag is not unreasonable for what you get....but it's just not for me

Agreed. Fortunately they make watches without diamonds that still have beautiful movements...

 By: patrick_y : March 21st, 2021-11:20
Even a simple Moser just looks so good that even without the diamonds, it's still a darn good looking piece!

The real question is...

What spoon did you expect to use? πŸ€”πŸ€”πŸ€”πŸ€”πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰

Ahh, eating caviar must never be done with a metal spoon...

 By: patrick_y : March 21st, 2021-11:22
Eating caviar with a metal spoon makes one taste the metallic-taste of the spoon because caviar has a certain chemical reaction when it comes in contact with many types of metals. Thus, eating caviar must be done with a non metal spoon, made of plastic, h...

Thank you

I'll dig a bit more, I got curious πŸ˜‰

I'm a big fan

of Moser (my wife has one, I have two). The watches are of high quality with reasonable value for money and the movements are exceptional. I also love the reduced design and the special dials from Moser. As practical as the diamond-studded case is, it wou...

I suspect it doesn't have any anti-reflection coating...

 By: patrick_y : March 21st, 2021-11:27
I have put in a question with the good people at Moser. But I strongly believe that the Moser timepiece here has no anti-reflective coating. Generally, considering how absorbing that Vantablack dial is, I don't see a real need for an anti-reflective coati...

Thank you very much for your effort!

 By: MTR : March 22nd, 2021-15:09
My experience was that the model that I was able to see had a strong mirror effect that counteracted the effect of the Vantablack. This was the Perpetual Moon Vantablack model. I found a photo on the internet that shows this effect. But maybe that was onl...

I'm shrugging my shoulders.

 By: patrick_y : March 22nd, 2021-16:37
Honestly, when I had the watch, I didn't think it had any AR coating. So I'm a tiny bit surprised that there's an AR coating on the inside of this piece.

Who knows... 😊

Very very nice piece!

That piece is extraordinary! I did enjoy the piece that was loaned to me by Moser very much. I was a little sad to have to return it. And I’m sure I’d enjoy yours very much too!

That is an interesting subject and thoughtful review.

I am of the opinion that a watch should be appropriate for the occasion and this is no exception. I have read that there are special celebrity men's suits for the red carpet that come with one sleeve shorter than the other so the watch will appear in in p...

Very true! This is definitely a watch for the man who must have multiple watches and a specific watch for every occassion!

Now, I must go find my lounge-around-the house watch. Dressing up to fit that watch for the three weeks I reviewed it made me oddly overdressed for lounging around at home. Time to break out the neutral beige casual clothes!
