Hi all, Travelling to Japan, was wondering if the purists had any recommendations for neo-vintage shops in Tokyo and Kyoto? Here are a few things on my shortlist: - 5070g - Lange homage series - art deco Reverso - modern independents like Moser, Lang&Hein... 

Homage to Walter Lange?

Not a formal series, but all of the homages to Walter and Emil are very attractive.

Time Tunnel near Tabata Station is probably the best for your specific interest. It is appointment only so check the website beforehand. The staff speaks OK English by email to request any watches you want to view. Glint in Aoyama also has a nice selectio...

There are still a few shops in Tokyo that never reverted back to regular business practices after COVID. And Tokyo is so big that it would be a shame if you took a train or subway 30-45 minutes just to be denied entrance and have to waste the same amount ... 

...there used to be a shop on the corner a block or two from the Starbucks there. It was like a consignment shop for various goods. They had a beautiful Patek 5070J that I really should have bought. Don't remember the name and don't know if it's still the... 

The store is in the 3rd Floor of Nakano Broadway and will serve as an excellent starting point. The 3rd floor has dozens more of quality watch shops to visit, many of which are very good. Do yourself a favor and make a reservation (imperative) for Maguro ...  

...either way, it's a nice place to shop and hang out...
