Then there's the Speedmaster derived . . .

. . . from your Japan limited, the rattrapante reference based on a 7750 movement issued in '03/'04.  There were three versions; Nilo (our prior Omega forum moderator) owned two at different times.

In case it isn't readily apparent from the images, these rattrapante Speedies were humongous, measuring at 42.25 mm diameter.  (I don't recall height specs, but tall, approximately 16 mm if memory serves correct.)

I've seen a few in the metal, including the fetching blue dial version, and tried one on once.  It was too large for comfort, but not overwhelmingly.  The main reason for not getting one was its rep for the split being unreliable.  Interestingly enough, it was this model that induced Omega to commission formed racing straps, which coincidentally fit standard Speedmaster Professionals.

A possibly interesting visual history of a certain military pilot/racer chronograph aesthetic…

I love the numerals on yours! Here is it's younger brother circa 2012, also a v7750. This is my work watch so gets worn nonstop. Never had a problem. Never had it service. Maybe I should ! ...

Good to see your Speedmaster …

and posting your views of owning and enjoying it. That’s what watch collecting should be all about, the journey.

Thx Cpt. I appreciate it.

I was not aware of this watch. Same era apparently. Looks a bit like the child of Omega with a Panerai Sub 106. Very cool.

I think it looks like a Credor Chronograph dial!
