Horological Meandering

I have had a look at Parmigiani watches before and recently managed to see and try on the Tonda 1950, one of my favourites from the brand based on pure pictorial evidence. And I have to say it worked just as well on the wrist as it did on pictures. An ele...  

The movement decoration looks a little more austere than the Chopard XPS but probably technically better finished?

And did not take any macro shots to be able to compare. Possibly someone else has the answer... Thanks for your comment!

Laurent Ferrier is out of the realistic price range for me at the moment. Otherwise I would definitely consider it. If I was willing to spend more money the VC 1972 would also be a top runner, I guess.

It is the less common choice, I guess but that has an appeal all of its own

Wonderful watch IMHO!

…especially when bought at the right price. If you’re decide to go for a Tonda, then budget permitting, look at the blue Meteorite version. Chopard LUC is the same – so good shout there also, and similarly Moser. The Urban would be a bit more old fashione... 

Still some time off, but it never harms to be prepared

…it’s nice to see this forum has a membership that’s not all about residual value, and thereby limiting the selection pool from which they can buy. Too often on others, brands like PF, GP, even VC (Overseas) are kicked aside because they don’t retain enou... 

So the loss of resale value is less of a concern. As I am primarily looking forward to enjoying it and not to make an investment, brands like PF or GP (or Chopard for that matter) are definitely on the list

Love the watch and the movement actually its the case. You do not see that often.

...since in debuted. I had the chance to join Mr. Parmigiani at a small dinner with a few others when he was showing some new pieces in Tokyo. He was a gentleman and very informative. It was a memorable evening.

classical chic if you ask me But I will choose a Chopard Luc or moser over this amongst your choices. Or a VC Traditionelle or FPJ chronometer Bleu. Somehow I don't understand Parmigiani's positioning and offering. Can't really explain.... Cheers Robin
