MkII started off almost 20 years ago making modification (mod) parts for Seikos like dials, hands, crystals, bezel inserts. They developed a reputation for high quality mod parts where a lot of them going around these days are really junk (ill fitting or non-proportional).
Then they expanded to create entire watches which are homages of vintage and discontinued models. The quality is equivalent to Seiko or Sinn IMO. For many years the movements used were ETA 2824s, then later ETA 2836 and even ETA 2893 for a GMT watch homage. I think they even used Soprod A10 movements once. Now they are pretty much using Seiko ebauches in the form of the NE15 which is really a white-label Seiko 6R15.
The problem is delivery times. With their special project watches assembled in the USA delivery can take literally years which can be frustrating. But they now have a "Ready To Wear" line which are watches made and assembled in Japan so these are more readily available (like a month turn around time).
Note that MkII is a one-man operation. Owned and operated by Bill Yao in Pennsylvania, USA.
MkII was one of the first if not the first of these boutique watch brands which have exploded in number over the years. It's the grandaddy of many of them.
