Thanks for the post - two things
Better to have Patek on the dial imho.
The other being provenance. I've seen a watch
in auction of a watch Eisenhower owned. If my memory
is correct (wouldn't bet money on it!) it was a Universal
Geneve Tri Compax. No big bump in value.
I bought a watch with an inscription to
Leopold Stokowski. Very reasonable. Now if you
had Babe Ruth or Lou Gehrig's Piping Rock could
bring God knows what! The owner of the Yankees
gave each player a Hamilton Piping Rock for winning
the 1928 World Series.
