Horological Meandering

Knowing how much I like watch winders and how detail obsessed I am about their operation, a new friend incredibly generously gifted me the latest Scatola Del Tempo watch winder.  I'm beyond words!  I'm a little embarrassed too, as this was very unexpected and it's a very generous gift.  It's certainly not something that happens to me every day or even every decade to receive such a nice thoughtful gift. 

This is the new Scatola Del Tempo Rotor One version.  And I'll be using it over the next couple of weeks to get an impression of how it works! 

Here are some of the important specs:

1.  The movement is made by Swiss Kubik for Scatola Del Tempo

2.  The winder is programmed to make 900 Clockwise turns and 900 counter-Clockwise turns per 24 hour period.  It does this with momentary breaks to give the watch some time to rest and for any overwinding clutches to reset themselves. 

3.  Watch always returns to a 12 o'clock position when in rest. 

4.  Seven colors of leather to choose from.  There's a nice leather band wrapped around the movement.  Mine is green! 

5.  Has a glass or acrylic door, but I like it without the door.  The door seems to be heavy like glass, but looks like acrylic to me.  I'm not using it because I like the look without it. 

6.  Has two watch holder sizes, one for standard wrists and one for small wrists.  I have both and will include photos of both. 

7.  So far I've noticed it's super silent.  Much quieter than my Scatola Del Tempos of the past. 

With the craziness in life, work, and family, it's always nice to receive something that reliably does its job of winding a watch!  I'll be sure to share the cool details about this watch winder in a thorough report!
