Regarding winders....

I have more than a few.... they are collecting dust, in storage. Unless you have some pieces that are difficult to set with complications like a moon phase or

perpetual or possibly annual calendar I avoid them. While they prevent the need to reset and wind they will also make sure your watch needs its movement serviced a lot
sooner. While its likely not good for it to sit motionless for extended periods its also not good for a movement to run endlessly (as far as need for servicing goes). If you have
a complicated calendar or moonphase (etc) that isn't worn often I'd just give it a wind once a week or two, make sure it runs occasionally but not continuously.
For leather strap pieces with a tang buckle I make long sleeves out of bubble wrap (using tape) and lay them out flat to extend strap life and help postpone leather failure
where its buckled. This also allows them to be stored in minimal space as you can lay them on top of each other in their protective sleeves in a small appropriate sized box.
Its also helpful if your trying to store a lot of pieces in a (not huge) safe. This solution isn't elegant but is functional and provides good protection, not for display, for storage.
I also like the small inexpensive zippered clamshell cases that can be found on line. Good protection, small and great for travel.

Watch box advice?

All, As my collection has grown to a few pieces, I am now trying to navigate through the jungle of watch boxes and winders, and was wondering if you happen to have any advice? I am looking for a box for 8-10 watches, with room for large watches (Panerai),...

💥 Don’t bother with Watch winders - Pointless 💥 Wrap your watches with Clingfilm of similar 💥 Keep watches not being used in safe at bank

The best winder is your wrist and if you don't a particular watch every time, it deserves a bit of rest. As for watch boxes...

I understand your attraction for them, BUT... The problem is that you can never use them with 100% security. I had a very nice one for 10 or 12 watches, I don't remember. I put some nice watches inside. The thieves are still thanking me for this kind atte...

on the fancy display box plan. And while leaving them at a bank is very secure they are out of reach... difficult to access, which is why I look for compact but safe (from damage) ways to fit into my not huge but bolted down safe at home. Not as safe as t...

If you have a secure location to keep it, Underwood makes a sturdy, handsome, black or brown leather 10-watch box large enough for oversized watches. I like that the watches sit far enough apart that there is no risk of metal-to-metal collisions within th...

In Regard to Winders and Boxes

 By: PPJames : July 27th, 2019-05:36
I keep all my watches that are not on a winder in a home safe. I live in a highrise so no worries about thieves. I have several travel cases depending on how many watches I'm taking (2,4 and 10). I do keep a few pieces on a winder, however, only those tha...

As for watch boxes, I use Underwood and Giobagnara (please google for them) leather boxes. They are very elegant and durable. Sam

...as others have said, they’re a waste of money, and I like setting my watch when I haven’t worn it in a while. On the topic of boxes, I’ve outgrown the cheap box I got from Amazon, and I want something that I can pickup and move easily and even lock awa...
